Knit an Icelandic moss field! The subtlety of the color shifts in the Moss Field Throw come as different colors of plötulopi and Love Story are held together, creating the beautiful marled effect. The Field Guide pattern contains exact instructions for creating the throw as shown, and this kit includes all the yarn you need. It’s also possible to work this design as a wrap—knit one of the three strips, and you’re done!
This kit doesn´t include the pattern that is to be found exclusively in MDK Field Guide 26: Moss. It won´t be available as a single pattern and is only in English.

This is the bundle of exquisite Icelandic wool yarns to create your own breathtaking Moss Field Throw from Field Guide No. 26: Moss. Hélène Magnússon created this palette of 9 plates of Plotulopi worsted weight and 10 balls of Love Story Einband lace weight yarn.
Knitted measurements
Approx 60” (152.5 cm) square
Wool
- Plötulopi by Ístex [100 g plates, each approx 328 yds (300 m), 100% new wool]: 3 plates each #1423 Clover Green (A) and #9102 Grey (B); 1 plate each #0001 White (C), #0059 Black (D), and #0484 Forest Green (E)
- Love Story Einband by Hélène Magnússon [25 g skeins, each approx 246 yds (225 m), 100% Icelandic lambswool]: 2 skein each of Moss Green (F), Anis Green (G), Sulfur Yellow (H) and (I); 1 skein each of Natural White (J) and Raven Black (K)
Yardage used: very little left of the Love Story. Little used of the motifs colors in plötulopi (dark green, white and black that can be used for the sweater and accessories)
Note: There was very little yarn left in each color of Love Story when b was completed.
Needles: Size US 11 (7 mm) circular needle, 32” (80 cm) long or longer, or size needed to achieve gauge
Gauge: 15 sts and 30 rows (15 garter ridges) = 4” (10 cm) in garter st using 1 strand each of B and E held tog, blocked. Exact gauge is not critical, but if your gauge is larger than called for, you may not have enough yarn to finish the entire blanket.
Notions: darning needle, optional stitch markers.
Techniques: garter stitch, marled intarsia. Blanket is worked flat in three panels, which are then sewn together. The blanket is worked in garter stitch throughout.
Kit: the kit contains enough wool to complete the blanket but not the needles or the other material. The kit doesn´t include the pattern that is to be found exclusively in MDK Field Guide 26: Moss.
