Barði

From  5,50

The Barði socks are a simple and neat design enhanced by an efficient little trick: the short purl. The socks are knitted from the top down with a reverse Stocking stitch panel that runs down the front of the sock and is decorated with a cable motif, reminiscent of the volutes of the Katla volcano’s eruption in 1918. The socks feature a German square heel (called a Halldóra’s heel in Iceland) and a wedge toe. As was sometimes seen in old socks, short rows added under the sole make the instep shorter and the socks more comfortable. The Barði socks were first published in my Icelandic Yarn Club 1 and are also part of my book Socks of Iceland
