Útivist (meaning outdoors in Icelandic; pronounced ootivist) is a highly technical outdoor clothing. Integrated mountain hood for additional weather protection, zipped chest pockets, longer back hem for additional comfort and warmth, 2 ways center front zip, adjustable cuffs and Women’s Active fit with articulated and pre-shaped sleeves. It is made of an extremely lightweight and exceptionally breathable, weather resistant, water-repellant, odor-repellant, environmentally friendly eco fabric with remarkable insulation qualities that affords total mobility and unhindered breathability whilst repelling moisture and protecting you against the elements: Icelandic lopi wool. In short, Útivist is a great lopi sweater with a zipper, hood and pockets, and a very good fit!
The KIT contains enough Einrúm L (lopi + silk) main color and Léttlopi contrasting colors to knit the sweater in the size chosen. It represents a 10% discount compared if you were going to buy the wool separately.

I had a lot of fun writing the description of the sweater! Lopi is best!
The construction is a bit unusual for a lopi sweater: body and yoke are knitted bottom up but the sleeves from the top down. This makes it easy to adapt the sleeves length and you can also just skip the sleeves and make a vest (instructions are included in the pattern to do that).
A lot of techniques are involved, illustrated in online tutorials: short rows, sewn steek, crochet steek, provisional cast on, stranded knitting, intarsia knitting … you won’t be bored!

Needles: 4 mm/US 6 and 4.5 mm/US 7 circular needles. Magic loop is used for smaller diameters but you can also use double pointed needles. Crochet hooks: 3.25 and 4 mm/ US D3 and G6
Wool: MC: Einrúm L by Kristín Brynja (lopi + silk): 92% new Icelandic wool, 8% pure Thai silk, 50 g ball = 93 m / 102 yds: shade 2006, 8(9,9,10)10,11,11(12,12,13) skeins
CCs: Léttlopi from Ístex, 100% new wool, unspun with light twist, Aran weight, 50 g ball = 100 m / 109 yds:

You can replace MC Einrúm L, by 2 strands of Plötulopi from Ístex held together and will get the same gauge: 4(4,5,5)5,5,5(6,6,6) plates.
For the CCs you can use either Léttlopi or 2 strands of Plötulopi.
Other material: two-directions zipper of same length of front opening, 2 short zippers 18 cm/7.25” long for front pockets. Lining for pocket: 2 rectangles (or 2 pockets for a double pocket) about 18 cm/7.25” large and 22 cm/9” long in a light polyester mesh material (for example laundry bag).
Notions: darning needle, markers, stitch holders or scrap yarn. Sewing machine.
Techniques: knitting in the round, stranded knitting, intarsia knitting, sewn steek, crochet steek, yo short rows. Twisted ribbing, one-row buttonhole.
The body is knitted in the round in St st from the bottom up. The back hem is worked longer with short rows and covers the lower back. At the armholes, the back is knitted higher, back and forth, to create a scooped neckline then sts are provisionally cast on for the shoulders and the yoke is knitted in the round in stranded knitting then the hood in the continuity of the yoke, first in the round, then back and forth. The top of the hood is worked with short rows and intarsia knitting. Sts are then picked up around the armholes and the sleeves are knitted from the top down. Elbow shaping with short rows adds a bit of fabric to prevent the formation of holes. The wrists have a thumbhole. The sweater is opened at the front with a sewn steek. Chest pockets are opened with a crochet steek.
