After our happy collaboration on the Swimming Pool shawl, Kieran Foley surprised me with yet another stunning design with my Love Story yarn! Midnight Sun is a light, bright crescent featuring two Shetland stitch patterns and narrow bands of stocking stitch. Clear and colored beads add sparkles of light. It couldn’t be more appropriate for Iceland where the sun never goes below the horizon during the summer months!
The kit contains 3 skeins of Love Story yarn and a project bag, but not the beads.

“I loved color and pattern as a child, and spent a lot of time doodling, drawing, and painting. I learned stranded knitting at home at an early age and went on to study textile design at the National College of Art in Dublin, Ireland (1983-87). At the time students were encouraged to keep a notebook to sketch ideas, and to collect postcards and cuttings for inspiration.”
We had been collaborating on the Swimming Pool shawl with my Love Story yarn, when Kieran completely surprised me by revisiting an older design of his with my Love Story yarn. The result is stunning and Midnight Sun couldn’t be more appropriate for Iceland. I look forward to wearing this shawl under the Icelandic midnight sun, indeed, this summer!
Size: one size – a crescent shape approximately 22in/55cm deep by 67in/170cm
Gauge: approximately 14 sts and 16 rows = 4ins/10cm in pattern stitch
Wool: Love Story Einband from Hélène Magnússon, pure new wool (100% Icelandic lambswool), fine lace weight, 1 ply, 25 g skein = 225 m / 246 yds
Total yardage: 675 m / 738 yds
Sulfure yellow: 2 skeins
Silene pink; 1 skein
Beads: 303 size 6 beads (160 clear and 143 colored)
Needles: long circular needle 4 mm / US 6
Crochet nr 2 (for the beads)
Notions: darning needle, markers (optional), blocking board, pins and/or blocking wires.
Techniques: lace
Kit: the kit contains an Hélène Magnússon project bag and enough wool to complete the shawl. It doesn’t includes the beads. It doesn’t include the needles, notions or the other material. Shipping costs are not included.
