Design: Hélène Magnússon
Part of my Icelandic Yarn Club 6, and published in October, which is breast cancer awareness month, these mittens are dedicated to my mother-in-law, sometimes nicknamed Sulla. Like far too many other women, she has been battling breast cancer this past year. I will gift her the mittens for her birthday this December.
I had my Ný Katla yarn dyed specially in pink for the Club, and part of the profits went to Bleikan slaufan (the Pink Ribbon, symbol of cancer awareness) to support the Icelandic Cancer Society. Pink is also my mother-in-law´s favorite color.
I will also let you appreciate the symbolism behind the middle finger and the Flower of Life.
