DESIGNER: Margrét Halldórdottir

Kristín is part of a collection of sweaters of similar facture made by Margrét under the name “The Settlement Daughters & Sons”. The beautiful motif in the yoke can be found in an Old Icelandic pattern manuscript, known as Sjónabók.

I added notes to the original pattern to clarify some points and I also asked Margrét to add two sizes to the pattern.

Margrét Halldórdottir is an Icelandic designer of sweaters under the name Móakot. When she’s not designing, she’s a psychologist.

Yarn: Gilitrutt Tvíband from Hélène Magnússon, 100% new wool, 100% Icelandic lambswool, plied lace weight, 2 ply, 25 g skein = 112 m/ 122 yds
A: Askja blue: 9(9,10)11,12 skeins
B: Westfjord green: 1(1,2)2,2 skeins
C: Hafra beige: 1 skein in all sizes

Needles: circ and/or DPNs 3.5 mm/US 4 needle; crochet hook 3 mm

Gauge: 24 sts x 36 rows on 3.5 mm/US 4 needle

Techniques: Kristín body and the sleeves are worked in the round from top to bottom up. At the armholes, they are combined on one needle and the yoke knitted. The sweater is steeked (cut) once finished to make a cardigan. Crochet picot finishing at the edges.
