Blocked gauge: the motif is very stretchy and the gauge is measured after the swatch has been properly washed and blocked. One pattern rep (rnd 6): 18 sts and 6 rnds = 8.5 cm/3,33” and 2.5 cm/1” on 4 ½ mm / US7 circular needle after blocking.
Make a gauge watch: CO 20 sts and work back and forth as follows:
Rows 1, 3 and 5: k1, p18, k1
Rows 2 and 4: k all sts
Row 6: k1, k2tog 3 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, k2tog 3 times, k1.
Rep rows 1 to 6 once more, then again rows 1 to 3 and BO loosely. Wash, block severely and pin. Let dry and measure. Change needle size if needed.
Needles: Circular needles 4½ mm/ US 7 and 3½ mm/ US 4, 80 cm/ 32” long. Magic loop technique is used sor smaller diameters but you can also use DPNs.
Notions: darning needle, markers, pins for blocking, 2 sts holders, waste yarn or 2 spare needles to set shoulder sts on hold.
