With Love Story Einband Hélène Magnusson has created a true Icelandic lace weight yarn in the hope that it will help revive the Icelandic knitting lace tradition and give it a new life. It is spun from fleeces Hélène hand-selects and grades one by one after the first shearing of the Icelandic lambs. The carefully crafted result is an Icelandic lambswool yarn of unparalleled softness and fineness.
Love Story is especially suited for delicate, ethereal lace shawls and is reminiscent of the old handspun yarns that define traditional Icelandic lace. You can read more about the making of Love Story below.

The fleeces selected by Hélène from Icelandic farmers are dyed and spun in specialty mills in Italy which can handle the unique challenges posed by Icelandic wool: It is composed of two very different types or hair, the long and coarse “tog” and the fine and short “þel”, which makes it difficult to spin into a fine yarn.
The wool is washed with an organic soap and dried very gently so that it stays soft. Five of the colors are composed of the natural colors of the Icelandic sheep (white, brown, black and grey). The white is not bleached and serves as the base for the other 15 colors which are dyed with acid-dyes with low impact processes. The water used for the washing and dyeing process is recycled so that no harmful material is released into the open water.
Love Story comes in 20 colors: five natural colors of the Icelandic lamb (white, black – a very rich and dark brown -, brown, light brown and grey; and 15 colors inspired by the Icelandic landscape. Note that the colors shown are as closed as they can be from the real colors but there can be variations from one monitor to another.
