Kristín is a lovely Icelandic yoke sweater designed by Margrét Halldórsdóttir from Móakot. I’m very happy to be able to offer you this beautiful design, which I joyfully reknitted with Gilitrutt Tvíband, my own soft Icelandic lambswool yarn. Note that the pattern is only available in print, as well as a PDF knitting notes from myself.

The printed pattern is accompanied by notes from myself: they are meant to clarify some points and I also asked Margrét to add two sizes to the pattern. The notes come in the form of a PDF and don’t include the charts that are in the printed pattern. On my website, you will find helpful tutorials illustrating some techniques used in this pattern, such as the steek. Margrét Halldórdottir is an Icelandic designer of sweaters under the name Móakot. When she’s not designing, she’s a psychologist. Sizes: S(M,L)XL, XXL Yarn: Gilitrutt Tvíband from Hélène Magnússon, 100% new wool, 100% Icelandic lambswool, plied lace weight, 2 ply, 25 g skein = 112 m/ 122 yds Other color combinations shown: A, B, C Needles: circ and/or DPNs 3.5 mm/US 4 needle; crochet hook 3 mm Gauge: 24 sts x 36 rows on 3.5 mm/US 4 needle Techniques: Kristín body and the sleeves are worked in the round from top to bottom up. At the armholes, they are combined on one needle and the yoke knitted. The sweater is steeked (cut) once finished to make a cardigan. Crochet picot finishing at the edges. Pattern: The pattern is in print only and will be sent by snailmail. Only the notes made by Hélène are in the form of a PDF. Once you’ve made your payment, you will receive an email with a link to download the notes PDF in English language. Errata: No mistake was found in this Kristín pattern. Kristín is part of a collection of sweaters of similar facture made by Margrét under the name “The Settlement Daughters & Sons”. The beautiful motif in the yoke can be found in an Old Icelandic pattern manuscript, known as Sjónabók.
