LGBTQ+ Knitting Tour in Iceland, May 14-20 2026

LGBTQ+ knitting tour in Iceland: lambing season, Textile Museum, optional walks, lopi sweater

Departure: 2026, May 14-20

More than just a knitting vacation, this enchanting tour in Iceland will hopefully give their participants a sense of safety. Iceland is a small country, but we can still play a meaningful role by speaking out, offering safe spaces, and working with others to uphold human rights. Our guide (she/her) is an active member of Samtökin 78 (the National Queer Organization).
The tour will take us to the beautiful West of Iceland where we will deep ourselves in the first flowers of spring, the green moss, the utterly cute lambs and kids, the busy bird life. We will have the chance to visit the precious Textile Museum in Blönduós. Our guide will tell us about the Icelandic knitting traditions with a focus on the youngest of them all, the famous Icelandic lopi sweater with a queer twist! We will meet with many local crafters, spinners, dyers, tanners for an unforgettable insight into the Icelandic culture and knitting heritage. This trip includes optional hikes and participants will have the opportunity to explore and take small walks where we will be staying. Accommodation in comfortable guesthouses, one of them with an outdoor hot tub. See pictures from similar previous tours here.
