Lína mittens KIT
DESIGN: Helga Jóna Þórunnardóttir is an Icelandic expat in Denmark where she’s teaching knitting, and especially Icelandic knitting at the Skals -højskolen for design og håndarbejde. Size: one size, medium (women). You can obtain more sizes by changing needle size and the length can easily be adjusted.
Yarn: Gilitrutt from Hélène Magnússon, pure new wool, 100% Icelandic lambswool, plied lace weight, 2 ply, 25 g skein =112 m / 122 yds
Color combinations on picture: 1 skein of each color needed.
- Mitten on the right (the stripes are the same than indicated in the instructions): a: Natural grey, b: Thyme Purple, c: Old pink d: Silene Pink
- Mitten on the left: a: Natural grey, the other colors alternate Askja blue, Natural white, Anis green and Silene pink.
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm / 4” x 4”: 32 sts and 28 rows on needle 3 mm / US 2 1⁄2.
Needles: 2,5 and 3 mm/ US 1 1⁄2 and 2 1⁄2 double pointed needles or circular needle 80 cm / 32” long (magic loop). Extra 3 mm needle for the 3 needles BO (if a circ needle is used).
Notions: marker, darning needle.
Techniques: The mittens are knitted from the cuff to the fingertip, with 4 colors or more. Opened cast one (with video tutorial), knitting in the round, stranded knitting.
Kit: the kit contains a little project bag and enough wool to complete the mittens (and probably enough to make a second pair) but not the needles or the other material. The kit doesn’t include the pattern PDF that must be purchased separately. Shipping costs are not included
