Correspondence tables: Knitting plötulopi and Love Story together instead of Léttlopi or Álafosslopi

Many of my patterns are using a blend of plötulopi and Love Story together for softer and lighter lopi sweaters: Birgitta, Frjókorn, Kristylopi, Icebreaker (from my Knit Stars Masterclass). See also this article of blog.

Love Story brings softness and strength. It is spun from Icelandic lambswool fleeces that I hand select from Icelandic farmers for its softness.  Knitting sweater with one strand of plötulopi is possible but because it is unspun, holes will come easily at the bottom of the body and the sleeves, at the elbows and under the arms. Although very fine, Love Story is strong and brings strength to the single strand of unspun lopi. It is easier to knit with. It makes long lasting sweaters.

For any patterns (from me or other designers), you can use 1 strand of plötulopi and 1 strand of Love Story together

  • instead of léttlopi: in patterns calling for Léttlopi or 2 strands of plötulopi. This will make for a softer fabric with a similar texture than Léttlopi but lighter.
  • instead of Álafosslopi: in patterns calling for Álafosslopi or 3 strands of plötulopi. This will make for a super light and airy fabric, but with a very different texture, more fluid and loose. Such sweaters can be then worn indoors and are very quick to knit.
