I finally have excellent news for my US customers.
We have changed carrier and are now shipping DDP to the USA at a much better rate: taxes are calculated at the checkout and there are no extra fees to pay on receipt.
It´s been quite the roller coaster to figure out the new tariffs and navigate all the changing rates but we finally settled with a new carrier which we have been testing for a while now and, so far, everything seems to be straight forward.
- We are sending to the USA on a DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) basis using Delivengo, a small-parcel shipping service provided by La Poste.
- Once the parcel is in the US, it is relayed by USPS (United State Postal Service).
- The tariffs are 0% on books and 10% on the yarns, kits and notions. Because the goods are of Icelandic origin, there are no additional tariffs applied.
- So once you have placed your order, at the checkout, you will see what you have to pay and no extra fees will be paid on receipt.
- If for some reasons you were asked to pay something, contact us immediately so we can sort things out.
- This service is available only for goods under 2 kg: split your order in two if you are above this limit (the system may tell you there is no shipping method or offer an other service, much pricier: it´s more cost-effective to place 2 orders).
