After the mittens and the sweater, here is the matching Rollur hat. The Rollur collection is an ode to the Icelandic sheep. Brought by the first settlers more than a thousand years ago, the Icelandic sheep is the only breed of sheep in Iceland, and it is strictly forbidden to mix it with any other breed. Rollur (pronounced rodlur and rolling the r) is a familiar term for sheep in Iceland.
And what better way to honor the Icelandic sheep than to use the beautiful Heiður yarn (Heiður means Honor in Icelandic) from Urðurull? This exceptionally soft yarn is spun with lamb’s wool from the Dalir valleys in the West of Iceland and is available in all the natural colors of the Icelandic sheep.
That said, you can use any other Icelandic Aran weight yarn to make your Rollur hat.
