Start the year differently with this winter escape into the Icelandic countryside focused on knitting, hot springs, spa, sheep, lopi, waterfall, turf house, Folk Museum and colourful yarns. Iceland in January, has only 3-4 hours daylight and the night is dark blue, illuminated by Xmas decorations and Northern lights: the ideal environment to knit in a cosy and warm turf house with designer Hélène Magnússon. She will take us directly from the airport to a picturesque rural guesthouse with its grass roof and sheep and will tell us all about the lopi yarn. The next day, we will be able to admire the famous Gullfoss waterfall as well as the spouting geyser Strokkur in their wintercloaks, outside the touristic hours. Knitting workshop and a spa at the Laugarvatn Hot Spring and Wellness centre Fontana, will complete a perfect day. After an evening possibly chasing Northern lights, we’ll head back to civilisation, visit the Reykjavík Folk Museum and go shopping in the numerous yarn and designer shops of Reykjavík. After a visit to her workspace, Hélène will invite us to her home for a farewell dinner.
Accommodations in countryside guesthouse in sleeping bags and in confortable guesthouse, dressed beds in Reykjavík.
