Einband means “one ply” in Icelandic: it is indeed a single ply yarn. It is more like a light fingering and the finest yarn of the Ístex range. It can be used for shawls and light garments. Two strands together knit about like the Léttlopi. It can be used with a strand of the unspun Plötulopi to make it stronger. The yarn softens after washing.
Grýla Tvíband and Gilitrutt Tvíband are plied yarns of a similar weight (Gilitrutt is very soft because made of lambswool) and can be used instead of it. They are lace weight and can knit at a smaller gauge.
